How to Install AETHER

Pick your system, then your browser. Each is just a couple of clicks.

Step 1 — Install the app

Double-click AETHER-Spatial-Setup.exe.

If you see "Windows protected your PC", click More info → Run anyway. (This just means the app isn't code-signed yet — it's safe.)

Click through the installer. AETHER opens and adds a Start-menu shortcut.

Prefer no install? Use AETHER-Spatial-Portable.exe — just double-click it to run, nothing gets installed.

Open AETHER-Spatial-1.10.0.dmg.

Drag the AETHER icon onto the Applications folder.

Open Applications, right-click AETHER → Open → Open. (Do this the first time only; afterwards just double-click.)
The right-click → Open is needed once because the app isn't Apple-signed yet. It's safe; this is just macOS being cautious about new apps.

Easiest (AppImage): right-click AETHER-Spatial-1.10.0.AppImage → Properties → Permissions → tick "Allow executing file as program", then double-click it.

Debian/Ubuntu: double-click the .deb (or sudo dpkg -i AETHER-Spatial-1.10.0.deb).

Fedora/openSUSE: install the .rpm (or sudo rpm -i AETHER-Spatial-1.10.0.rpm).

Step 2 — Add the browser add-on (optional)

The add-on spatializes audio inside your browser (YouTube, Spotify, streaming). Works on ChromeEdgeBraveOpera GXFirefox

From the store (one click)
Manual (before it's published)

Open the AETHER Web store link you were given (Chrome Web Store, Edge Add-ons, or Firefox Add-ons).

Click Add to Chrome / Get / Add to Firefox → confirm. Done.

Play a video or song, click the AETHER icon, and switch it on. Best on headphones.

Use this only if the store version isn't available yet.

Chrome/Edge/Brave/Opera: unzip the extension folder. Go to chrome://extensions, turn on Developer mode (top-right), click Load unpacked, pick the folder.

Firefox: go to about:debugging#/runtime/this-firefox → Load Temporary Add-on → pick manifest.json.

Tip: AETHER's spatial effect is designed for headphones. On stereo speakers it still widens the sound, but the out-of-head effect is much clearer on headphones.
